Today Edwin's class had their Art Exhibition (the 3rd leg of the Gr3LT fundraiser for East Africa). Each third grader completed a painting and the parents, grandparents, uncles or aunts were asked to buy the painting at AED 25. Not a bad price for these artworks!!
All the Grade 3s have been working really hard during the last week to ensure that all the master pieces were ready.
I arrived a couple of minutes early, just in time to help organise one of the tables. The finest artwork on display :-)
Ten minutes later the doors opened and the 'public' was allowed to enter the exhibition hall. Wow - what a buzz of activity within minutes. I would say 80% of the paintings sold within the first half an hour. We paid for Edwin's painting and, of course, he didn't want to leave it on the table! He was scared that someone else would take his painting. Ms Thorpe had to explain nicely that it had to stay on display so that everyone can get an opportunity to see it (awwww...)
I am so proud of Edwin!! He even had to do another painting that is going to get a permanent spot at school. Guess we're lucky to have been able to buy one of his paintings while he's still relatively unknown :D
That brings an end to the East Africa Fundraiser - well done Gr3LT and thank you Ms Thorpe.
